Foggy Thinking after a Wreck? Get Help.

Whiplash – Mobile, AL

If you follow football (and that means most everyone in Alabama), you have heard about the devastating effects of concussions. But you don’t have to be a pro player to suffer.

People hurt in traffic accidents can suffer from concussions. Here is the shocking part; many may not know that their symptoms were caused by that rear-ender.

A concussion affects the brain and is usually caused by a blow to the head or violent shaking. Just the type of thing you might experience in a car wreck. Some symptoms can include fuzzy thinking, lack of concentration, an inability to sleep, headaches and even ringing in the ears. The effects may be subtle and not even show up immediately.

Here is my strong advice: after a wreck, go see a doctor even if you do not feel injured. You will need a medical evaluation if you are going to file a claim and, if you are injured, you need to get better as soon as possible.

Let me say a little about football and concussions. The lawsuits you read about usually cite repeated head injuries. The strange behavior and anger issues can be, but rarely are, seen in traffic accidents. It is much more common that after a wreck the injured person does nothing thinking the cause of their symptoms will go away. This is just foolishness.

Remember in Alabama, you generally have only two years to file a lawsuit or you are banned forever from collecting for your injury. There are some exceptions but they can be rare.

If you have questions especially about car wrecks, slip and fall, and other person injury law, you can talk with the lawyers at Eiland and Ritchie for free. There is no cost until we collect for you. We want to help you get back on your feet.
